Thank you for taking the time to look at my website.
About me, I thought it would be better to know, in brief, why I practice yoga and Thai massage. Then you can read about experience and qualifications if you're interested.
Yoga is part of my life, it has affected how I see the world and how I move though it. It did not start that way and it doesn't have to be that way for everyone. Yoga started for me as exercise, fast paced and strong and I loved it. Over the years it has changed, it's become more than exercise; a way of being, a way of finding peace and connection, in essence a meditation. Yoga has been a Sanctuary for me in times of stress, it has guided me through burnout, trauma, illness and injury as well as all the moments of beauty and joy. It has kept me sane in times of madness and been a constant in times of change and uncertainty. It continually teaches me how to ride the waves of life with an open heart and a love for the world. simply, it helps me to be present. It is not always easy or pleasurable but that's life and I learn to love it in all its forms.
I trained in Thai Massage in 2019. It felt like a very natural thing for me to move towards. I enjoy working 121 with people, I always learn so much and I am fascinated by bodies and different ways of viewing the body. I love that Thai massage works on different levels, anatomical and energetic, it is a deep and healing practice and I feel very privileged every time I am asked to work with people.
Experience and qualifications
I Started practicing yoga in 2007. In 2015 I completed the two year 500+ hour teacher training programme with the Vajrasati school. (www.vajrasati.co.uk) Since then I have gone on to become a senior teacher, mentor and part of the teacher training team.
Before teaching yoga I was a support worker for many years. I worked with people with complex support needs, facilitating groups and working 121 with people who had experienced PTSD, psychosis, sexual assault, addiction and torture survivors. I worked in the community and in high security environments. One of my passions is to offer yoga out to the wider community and I was keen to bring my previous experience into my teaching. I completed a Trauma Sensitive Yoga Training weekend in 2016 and in 2018 trained with the Prison Phoenix Trust to teach in prisons and high security environments.
I teach weekly drop classes, one to one's, workshops and retreats. Over the years I have had the privilege of teaching a wide variety of people from all walks of life. I have taught 121 classes for people with fibromyalgia, Bipolar, anxiety and complex PTSD. As well as classes for people with Borderline Personality Disorder at the Lighthouse Project, young people with learning disabilities with Team Domenica , vulnerable women at the Brighton Women's Centre,Threshold women's services and the Migrant Women's Project. I have taught people with Cerebral Palsy and Ehlers Danlos syndromes through the No Holds Barred Organisation and am currently teaching weekly classes in a high security setting with the Prison Phoenix Trust and Brighton Yoga foundation.
I am passionate about creating equal access to yoga for all. My classes, workshops and retreats are always offered at affordable prices or as sliding scales so that everyone can have the opportunity to experience yoga.

"I have been doing yoga for 15 years & Sarah is the best teacher I have ever had. She has corrected all sorts of bad habits & encouraged me to push myself but always in a safe way. My individual practice has been transformed with her support & guidance. Her dojo is a beautiful & calm space to have classes. I particularly recommend her one-to-ones, which have helped me get deeper into yoga & my own body than ever before. Thank you Sarah!"

"I came to Sarah's class as a complete beginner - one who was slightly nervous about my complete lack of flexibility! Sarah put me at ease immediately, and has been a great teacher - clear, helpful, encouraging, and very good at pushing each member of the class within his or her abilities. I finish each session feeling great, and after about eight classes, have already fallen in love with yoga."

“Sarah always creates a warm and calming space to practise yoga; whether it be a class or a retreat, you're invited to go to any depth you wish. Whether a beginner or a person with a regular yoga practise, Sarah's classes flow freely, are playful and welcome curiosity. The sense of oneness at the end always astounds me. I'm so grateful that teachers like Sarah offer these classes and especially on basis that remains affordable for those people that cannot afford to join a yoga studio."
